Web Help JumpStart Conference 2002Every so often, when a new online-Help-related technology begins to emerge, WinWriters, the producers of the annual Online Help Conference (as well as similar conferences in Europe and Australia), create a "JumpStart" conference, an in-depth sharing of knowledge on the new technology by those who are on the cutting edge. And so the Web Help JumpStart Conference was born. Held in Boston August 19 & 20, 2002, it attracted more than 100 attendees who wanted to get two days of immersion on the subject from experts such as Matthew Ellison, Char James-Tanny, Dave Gash, and Scott Deloach. In addition, nine guest experts showed off the web-based Help systems that they developed for their comapnies and explained how they did it. Vendors who create technologies and develop tools to create Web-based Hlep systems were on hand to hawk their wares, including eHelp, Oracle, and Quadralay. Curiously absent was Microsoft, which has had its Help 2.0 product under development for more than a year and a half.
